Here's Man Caught With Women Pants, Pad... to go through test

A middle-aged man, identified as Kayode Michael, who was on Wednesday apprehended by residents of the Danjuma area of Akure, the Ondo State capital, for allegedly picking women underwear and used sanitary pads, is to undergo a psychiatric test.

The man was almost lynched by the mob who caught him with a nylon bag containing female underwear as he was accused of planning to use them for rituals or sell them to ritualists.

The NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Ondo State Command, Mr Oladapo Samuel, confirmed the incident, saying the suspect was still in the custody of the agency.

He explained that the relatives of the suspect had visited the command to say that he was mentally ill and that he was fond of picking refuse around the town.

He added that investigation had commenced into the matter and that the suspect would be subjected to a psychiatric test in order to determine the state of his mental health.

Samuel said, “The suspect was rescued from an angry mob by two patriotic citizens. He was confirmed to engage in begging for alms and picking waste from dustbins around the metropolis by his relatives and neighbours.

“At the scene of rescue, no witness was willing to speak with the NSCDC officers on the circumstances of his apprehension so as to determine if he was actually caught with the exhibits or that he was checking the nylon bag containing the exhibits, thinking that there were valuables in it. Investigation is still ongoing on the case.”

According to a source, some of the female items found in the bag that the suspect was carrying included used pants, bras and a blood-soaked sanitary pad.

The source said, “People saw him picking some female underwear around the area, but when he was asked why he was doing this, he could not give a convincing answer; so, the people thought maybe he wanted to use them for rituals.

“As he could not give satisfactory answers to the questions put to him, the residents started beating him; they wanted to kill him but he was later rescued and handed over to security agents.”

Another source explained, “The man was caught by okada riders in the Danjuma area of Akure while he was picking female pants and bras; he also picked up a freshly used sanitary pad soaked in blood. Nobody knew what he wanted to use them for. But he has been handed over to men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ondo Command.”
